This month has been one of waiting. An inordinate amount of waiting: in airports, at bus stops, train stations, in taxicabs; in fact my life over the last few weeks has felt like some fifth level limbo but with extra good books.

This month has been one of waiting. An inordinate amount of waiting: in airports, at bus stops, train stations, in taxicabs; in fact my life over the last few weeks has felt like some fifth level limbo but with extra good books.
Last month I was COMPLETELY unorganised and ill-prepared and my BINGO-ing went by the wayside. This month, even though I am still not the least bit prepared (I would never … Continue reading BINGO @ BlueCastle (or super flash 80s, morally shady 60s and depressingly realistic 00s…)
<<< TBR CHALLENGE: April 2017 >>> The munificent and benevolent Wendy the Super Librarian’s TBR Challenge this month was Contemporary. Just warning y’all right now —— I ain’t be so … Continue reading Ain’t She Sweet, Susan Elizabeth Phillips (or the contemporary: clawing its way back into my TBR…)
Urgh. I would just like to alert the judges to the fact that my reading month was TERRIBLE-AWFUL-NO-GOOD-HORRID. Where have all the good books gone???? I think they hide and … Continue reading Bingo @ BlueCastle, February (Or, 7 books that contributed to a new frown wrinkle on my forehead…*mutter mutter*)
It has been one of THOSE months.
You know, the ones where each week is ascendingly more awful than the week preceding it, until you are at this zenith point of Terribleness, but there is nowhere escape and you think: yep, this is it. Hell has frozen over and I am just waiting for a nod from one of the four horseman before the End of Days is officially declared.
Yeah, one of those Novembers.
They say the first step to recovery is admitting it…so I am just going to come out and say it: this month was 31 consecutive days of over-reading, glomming and bingeing on authors that I insta-loved. In other words: single-author book bacchanalias.
I am just going to be completely honest here and tell you that this should be in NO way considered a thoughtful and impartial critique of a book.
This month’s TBR Challenge from the luminary Wendy The Super Librarian (as dictated from her Fortress of Solitude & Books) was No theme! No Theme! No Theme! This should have made it very easy – the reality?
Far far from the madding crowd… Nothing seemed quite right. I was overly picky, underly decisional and the result was just a big ole mess.
SO I made my OWN theme: The Joan Wolf Theme.
I think I have possibly mentioned in the past that I’m not usually favoured by Lady Luck in the winning department. As such, I have a rather jaundiced view of people, … Continue reading Lovers, Haters & Lost Recipes (or July’s TBR Challenge – which almost kicked my butt…)
Yep. I am blaming the bingo card. Not my (possibly appalling) reading choices. Externalising blame…it’s much safer that way! I hadn’t noticed until I started BINGO-ing (can that be a verb?), … Continue reading June Bingo (or the month that practically NOTHING went ANYWHERE…)
Last month I was late with my TBR challenge (*hangs head in shame*), so I was determined to be AT LEAST almost on time with this one…
This month’s TBR Challenge, pulled from Wendy the Super Librarian’s Cliffs of Insanity was Favourite Trope. Which is kind of like asking me which of my cat-children I love best, or which M&M flavour I horde secretly so I don’t have to share…Or my favourite type of alcohol…
I mean really who can decide?
I had great hopes for May…Alas – twas not meant to be. In short: I read books, I filled squares. And NOTHING lined up in a row. It didn’t help that some of the books were so incredibly bad, that really using them as a BINGO square was the only thing that kept me going….
But here are the contenders:
I haz shame. I am SUPPOSED to be doing a BINGO Post…and also a Middlemarch one…but here I am, pontificating about something else entirely.
But that is because it is just so good.
I am bringing out the wallow pig.
Everyone reads differently. Right? Some fast; some slow; some not all (and we pity those poor uninformed uni-bots masquerading as people…).
TBR CHALLENGE: MARCH 2016
It’s been a little while since I posted…IRL has been NUTS – and I’ve missed posting and commenting and friendly-stalking pretty blogs (or is that something only I do…?)
I would love to review these, talk about the intriguing dynamics, illusory metaphors and heart-wrenching relationships…
But I can’t – because I HAVE NO PERSPECTIVE ON THIS!!!!
None.
Not even a bit.
I am shamelessly WALLOWING in the FEELS.
I have a confession to make. It’s a little dark. It’s a little obscure. I probably need some sort of support group for it…. But: I collect quotes. Lots of … Continue reading The Cinderella Deal, Jennifer Crusie, (or the power of a good quote)
